Terms of Service
Last updated: 12 September 2026
These terms cover using Tillwise to run your business. They're written to be understandable rather than exhaustive — if anything here doesn't make sense, contact us and we'll explain.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating a Tillwise account or using Tillwise, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree to them, please don't use the service. If you're using Tillwise on behalf of a business, "you" in these terms means that business as well as you personally.
2. Eligibility and authority to use Tillwise for a business
You must be able to form a legally binding contract to use Tillwise. If you set up a business account, you confirm that you're authorised to do so on that business's behalf, and that you have the authority to agree to these terms for it.
3. Account responsibilities
You're responsible for:
- providing accurate information when creating your account and keeping it up to date;
- keeping your login credentials confidential, and not sharing your individual login with someone else — invite them as their own team member with an appropriate role instead;
- everything that happens under your account, including actions taken by anyone you've given access to;
- telling us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.
4. Permitted use
Tillwise is provided for legitimate business-management purposes — recording your own business's till, supplier, expense, staff and reporting activity. You may use it for your own business(es) and any stores you're authorised to manage.
5. Prohibited misuse
You agree not to:
- use Tillwise for any unlawful purpose, or to store or process information you don't have the right to hold;
- attempt to access another business's data, or any account you're not authorised to use;
- attempt to bypass, disable or interfere with security features, rate limits, or access controls;
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the service without our prior written permission;
- use automated means to extract data from Tillwise at scale, other than the export/PDF features the product itself provides;
- reverse engineer or attempt to derive the source code of Tillwise, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction.
6. Business and store data
Everything you enter about your business, stores, sales, suppliers and expenses remains yours. You're responsible for its accuracy — Tillwise displays and calculates based on what you enter, and can't verify it independently.
7. Staff data entered by you
If you enter information about your staff (names, pay details, hours, or Staff Accounts activity), you confirm that you have a proper basis to do so and that you'll handle it in line with applicable employment and data-protection law, including telling affected staff what's recorded about them where required. See the Privacy Policy for more on how this information is described there.
8. Responsibility for information you enter
Tillwise stores and calculates from the information you and your team enter. You're responsible for reviewing it for accuracy — for example, confirming a Daily Close before relying on its variance figure, or checking a Staff Account statement before sharing it — before treating any figure as final for your own business, payroll or accounting purposes.
9. Financial and business calculations
Tillwise performs calculations (till variances, supplier balances, staff account balances, payroll estimates, report totals) based on the data you provide and the settings you configure. These are management tools to help you run your business day to day — they are not a substitute for your own bookkeeping, payroll or accounting records, and should be reconciled against those records rather than relied on as your sole source of truth for tax, payroll or regulatory purposes.
10. Tillwise is a management tool, not professional advice
Tillwise is a business-management application, not a source of accounting, tax, payroll or legal advice. Nothing in the product constitutes such advice, and you should consult a qualified professional for decisions that depend on it.
11. Service availability
We aim to keep Tillwise available and reliable, but — like any online service — we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Tillwise may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance, due to issues with our infrastructure providers, or for reasons outside our reasonable control.
12. Maintenance and changes to the product
We may update, change or improve Tillwise's features over time. We'll try to avoid changes that remove functionality you rely on without reasonable notice, but this isn't always possible for urgent fixes (for example, a security patch).
13. Intellectual property
Tillwise, including its design, code and branding, belongs to us (or our licensors). These terms don't transfer any of that to you — you get a right to use the service as described here, nothing more.
14. Your content
You retain ownership of the business, staff and operational data you enter into Tillwise ("your content"). You grant us the right to store, process and display it strictly as needed to provide the service to you — we don't use it for any other purpose.
15. Suspension or termination for misuse
We may suspend or terminate access to an account that breaches these terms — for example, attempted unauthorised access to another business's data, or unlawful use of the service — with notice where reasonably practicable, or without notice where the misuse is serious or ongoing.
16. Termination and account closure
You can stop using Tillwise at any time. To close a business account, contact us using the details below and we'll help — see the Privacy Policy's "Retention" section for what happens to your data afterward.
17. Disclaimers
Tillwise is provided on an "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we don't make promises about the service beyond what's stated in these terms — for example, we don't guarantee it will be error-free or meet every requirement of your specific business. Nothing in this section limits any right or protection you have that the law doesn't allow us to exclude.
18. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you arising from your use of Tillwise is limited to direct losses that were a reasonably foreseeable consequence of our breach, and we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to exclude or limit.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continuing to use Tillwise after a change means you accept the updated terms.
20. Governing law and jurisdiction
Tillwise is operated as a UK-based service, and these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Tillwise is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have in your own country of residence.
